Casual work for retired IT geek/nerd

Casual work for retired IT geek/nerd, hourly rate negotiableYou will be retired or semi-retired, always been dabbling in hands-on IT, enjoying keeping up with current IT trends and available during office hours.

You will also be interested in the lastest cloud services, preferably Google cloud services, and be willing to update your knowledge about Google Apps in your own time through Google’s free resources.

We are looking for someone who is able to come onto campus to work casual, occasional hours (not even weekly) to help keep our IT system in great shape. We are not able to fund your learning time but you will be supported by two people remotely who have intimate knowledge of the systems.

We are a school for adult students connected to NBN using only Google cloud services - Google Apps (email, Drive storage, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc) as well as Google Classrooms. All our teachers and students use Chromebooks to connect to Google Apps. We therefore have no server or laptops. Our phone system is VOIP and mainly runs itself but needs tweaking and occasional install of new phones.

Do you have:

Good previous experience in wide range of IT services

Still dabbling and keeping updated in ITHave knowledge of, or willing to self learn, new IT horizons like Google Apps and Google Classroom

Willingness to learn about Google Apps through Google’s Gsuite free online resources

Ability to come out to school premises in Darwin suburbs to speak to staff about any problems they are experiencing, then resolve with assistance from remote support or Google support.

Depending on the person, it's possible there could be other paid hours for small handyperson jobs and gardening time.

Contact mahoney.jan@gmail.com with an expression of interest and brief summary of your background.Pease note I am travelling with intermittent mobile coverage so there may be a delay in my response.
