Personal Computer Training

Personal computer training can offer many advantages.  It gives you all the advantages of a normal classroom - a teacher on hand to explain things, to help you when you get into difficulties, and to encourage you when things seem hopeless - without the disadvantages of distractions and large class sizes.  Also, the one-on-one advantages of personal computer training has the added advantage that you can usually set the time and place to suit yourself - you can learn at home, at your workplace or at the teacher's place, whichever suits you best.  And you can choose whatever times suit you best:  morning, afternoon or evenings.

So far so good.  But there is a catch - or two!

The first catch is cost.  In a regular class, with many people, you pay only a portion of the teacher's salary and the classroom costs;  with a one-on-one class, you pay for everything.  So solo lessons are almost always more expensive that class lessons.

The second catch is more subtle.  In a regular class with many people, there is a set range of topics, and everybody has to learn about them, whether or not they are actually personally needed.  In a one-on-one training, the teacher can customize the course to exactly suit your individual needs.  So where is the problem?  The problem occurs if the student insists on deciding what the teacher should skip, ignoring the teacher's advice.  In such cases, the result is usually that important topics are skipped, and then it is always the student who loses out!
