Computer training classes
Live computer training classes are one of the most popular ways for adults to learn about computers. In the average town or city, there are usually many different places where a person can find such classes. Here are a few of them: - Universities and colleges
- Public libraries
- Evening classes
- Computer clubs
Live computer training classes have many advantages: - Learning with others can be more fun than by yourself - or, at least, some people think so;
- You have a teacher on hand to explain things, to help you when you get into difficulties, and to encourage you when things seem hopeless;
- Fees for the courses can be low - and might even be free!
They also have disadvantages: - Having other people in the class can be distracting - or, at least, some people think so;
- If the class size is too big, the teacher may not have time to give you much personal help. By rule of thumb, a class size of 15 or 20 will suit people happy to work without much help, but other people may be better off with a class size of five or less;
- Fees for the courses can be low - and might even be free! (Mind you, low fees are usually linked to big class sizes, so you have to be a little bit lucky to find both small classes and low fees.)
- Classes are held at whatever times and places suit the teachers and the institutions, and if those are inconvenient for you, well, very sorry, but tough luck!
If you live in a very small town or too far out of town, you may find that there are simply no courses available to you at all.
